Project Background
Our client is a mechanical repair service company based in Mongolia. They specialize in providing comprehensive repair and maintenance services for mining machinery—including excavators, drilling rigs, loaders, and mineral processing equipment. With the continued expansion of Mongolia’s mining industry, the facility faces immense pressure during major overhaul operations due to the challenge of handling increasingly massive and heavy components.
In January 2026, the factory’s management decided to purchase single girder overhead traveling crane to upgrade their workshop lifting equipment. After evaluating several suppliers, they ultimately chose VOITTO. The key factors that attracted them included our specialized solutions in crane engineering, our transparent customization process, and our extensive export experience in regions with extreme climates.
Project Challenges
Upon receiving the client’s email, we promptly established contact and communicated via video conference. During our discussions, we gained a detailed understanding of the client’s operating conditions and lifting requirements. Concurrently, VOITTO Crane faced the following project challenges.
Extreme Cold Weather Conditions: Winters in Mongolia are harsh, with temperatures often plummeting to below -30°C. We must design our equipment—including motors, brakes, electrical systems, and lubricants—to withstand these extreme conditions. Any operational failure under such conditions could not only bring the entire maintenance workshop to a standstill but also jeopardize production schedules at the mining site.
Multiple-Load Configuration Within a Single Workshop: The client requires the efficient operation of three cranes with different lifting capacities (3 tons, 5 tons, and 10 tons) within the same building structure. Each single girder overhead traveling crane must be precisely matched to the workshop span, track beam height, and local power supply conditions. This necessitates close coordination during the layout planning and technical specification design phases.
Cross-border Logistics and Documentation Management: Exporting heavy industrial equipment from China to Mongolia involves complex customs clearance procedures, export license approvals, and multimodal transport arrangements. Delays at border crossings or obstacles caused by incomplete documentation would severely delay the client’s workshop upgrade schedule.
Remote Installation Technical Support: Given the significant geographical distance and logistical constraints, on-site installation guidance must be meticulously planned. The client’s team requires comprehensive technical documentation and remote commissioning support to ensure the crane’s installation can be completed safely and in accordance with standards without the need for on-site engineers.
VOITTO Solution
Having fully grasped the challenges currently at hand, our technical team swiftly devised a customized solution, meticulously tailored to the client’s specific operational conditions and improvement requirements.
Cold-Climate Engineering Package: All three cranes were configured with VOITTO’s cold-weather specification: low-temperature-rated motors with class F insulation, electric brakes with anti-freeze actuators, stainless steel electrical enclosures with IP54 protection, and low-viscosity lubricants rated to −40°C. Heating strips were integrated into the control panels to ensure reliable starting in sub-zero conditions.
Tailored Layout & Structural Design: VOITTO’s engineering team conducted a detailed site survey via drawings and measurements provided by the client. Each crane — 3T, 5T, and 10T — was custom-designed to match the specific bay width, building column spacing, and runway rail height. End carriages and girder dimensions were individually calculated to ensure smooth multi-crane coexistence within the same runway system.
Streamlined Export and Logistics Coordination: VOITTO has compiled a comprehensive export documentation package—including commercial invoices, packing lists, CE Declarations of Conformity, and technical data sheets—with all documents provided in bilingual English and Mongolian versions. The equipment is packed in custom-built wooden crates featuring moisture-proof liners, specifically designed to meet the requirements of overland transport. Furthermore, VOITTO works closely with a reliable freight forwarder—highly experienced in cross-border transport along the China-Mongolia route—to ensure the punctual delivery of the shipment.
Comprehensive Remote Commissioning Support: VOITTO provided a detailed illustrated installation manual, wiring diagrams, and a step-by-step commissioning checklist. Our technical team remained available via video call throughout the installation process, guiding the client’s maintenance engineers through load testing, hook height verification, and safety limit switch calibration — ensuring all three cranes were certified operational on schedule.

Project Outcome & Summary
Three VOITTO single-girder overhead cranes—in 3-ton, 5-ton, and 10-ton capacities—have been successfully delivered to a customer’s facility in Mongolia, and commissioning was completed on schedule as planned. Since entering service, these cranes have maintained stable and reliable operation under the demanding working conditions of the workshop. The client’s representative noted that the cranes have not only significantly enhanced the facility’s maintenance and repair capabilities for large mining equipment components and effectively reduced downtime during heavy-lift operations, but have also comprehensively improved overall workplace safety.
This project fully demonstrates VOITTO’s comprehensive capabilities in the overhead crane sector—namely, providing end-to-end customized services ranging from engineering design and manufacturing to export delivery, tailored to address extreme operating environments and complex cross-border logistics challenges. In scenarios where standard off-the-shelf equipment fails to meet requirements, VOITTO is able to provide truly reliable lifting solutions.
